4 Ultimate Blogging Tips
Whether you blog to talk about your favourite hobby, vent your views or rants, dis your work mates or because you’re a professional blogger who makes money from blogging, we all do it for reason.
If you want to be successful at blogging and have a blog that truly is great, there are a few basics yet ultimate tips you can’t succeed without.
1. The title is ‘The be all and end all’
If your title sucks, then who will click it to read your post? Because I’m sure I and many others will not. Your post might be the best piece of literature since JK Rowling’s Harry Potter, but if your title is dull, lifeless and blunt – don’t expect it to work magic and people to click and read it.
Your title is the only catching statement that will tease and entice the reader to click and read the post, and ultimately leave a comment. It needs to be clever, clear and be able to stand out among all the other dull titles out there, and trust me there are quite a few.
Some of the best titles I have used and had the best response from are:

2. Reader friendly blogs, not encrypted codes
Writing a blog does not mean writing ‘War & Peace’. The majority of your readers will be looking for certain answers, information or just browsing through your blog, so it is best to make the blog as ‘scannable’ as possible, meaning it is easy to get the gist of the blog by simply running your eyes down the page.
Here are some simple tips to make your blog more ‘scannable’:
• Bullet points – not enough to make it look like you have tried to write it in braille though
• Section headers, titles and header tags
• Numbered and alphabetical list
• Variation of fonts, sizes and weights – try to use no more than two type faces as it will start to look messy
• Short paragraphs and quotes
• Pictures and videos
• Space your text out and avoid vast paragraphs
Having said all these, remember that your blog still has to be pleasing to the eye and appealing to the reader. I have seen many blogs in the past that have used numerous fonts and variations in size and gave the look of graffiti on a toilet door.
3. 1 Picture = 1,000 Words
Try to include pictures in your post where possible; a picture really can equal a thousand words, especially if it is creative and relevant to the content. Even just a funny image will instantly lighten the mood and make it more likely to be read and shared around other social sites.
4. Keep it Sweet, Keep it Simple
If your posts go on forever your readers will get bored! As I said earlier you’re not writing ‘War and Peace’, so it doesn’t matter how good your writing skills are most people will only read the first paragraph. The rest of the post they are more likely just to scan, hence making your post ‘scannable’
Making your blog witty, more entertaining and even comical will keep your readers interested. They will also be more likely to comment on your post and subscribe to your blog. However, in my experience it’s better to ‘Keep it Sweet, Keep it Simple’.
Comments if you please…
I always like my readers to comment to the posts I write… and if you can add anything further please let me know? Thanks for reading.
